A Step in the Right Direction

Adam is 5 months old today. He can finally roll from his back to his stomach, but he only does it when he's happy. Jacob put on big boy undies tonight and went to the potty once. I can honestly say that life is pretty good right now.
Jacob shares Pooh Bear with Adam. He really loves his brother. I have to remind him NOT to share his small toys with him. I know this dynamic will change when Adam starts taking
Jacob's toys...but I'm enjoying the present.
Adam is grateful to hold Jacob's most prized posession.
This is the pipe cleaner farm animal kit that Jacob and I (I) put together a few days ago. With the exception of the sheep and the stallion that looks like a camel, it turned out pretty well. Jacob enjoyed playing with the animals for a few minutes...but I just can't throw it away for some reason. Anyone need pipe cleaner animals??

Milestones

Adam has discovered that he has feet and toes! When he's waiting to be taken out of the crib...even for his midnight snack.....he plays with his toes. You may also notice his baby rolls. Today I put a onesie on him that Jacob was wearing at 12 months. It fit perfectly! Adam is also "crawling". He is inching forward like a worm, but he has yet to roll from his back to his stomach or sit unassisted. I was reflecting on the progression of my fantasies yesterday. When I was young I fantasized about being all grown up. I fantasized about proms and a wedding. There was also a time in my life that I fantasized about being Katie Koelz, O.D., or Katie Koelz, brilliant microbiologist. Yesterday I caught myself fantasizing about Adam rolling from his back to his stomach. Oh, how much easier life will be then!!!

Adam LOVES sweet potatoes!
Miner Jacob....as promised.

For Aunt Jessie Lou

It has once again been brought to my attention that I'm a little too slow getting pictures posted :) Here's a little catch up from the last month.
Jacob and Monny making Jacob's third birthday cake.

Looks like Jacob did a good job decorating his cake. We added the Little People before we brought it out to him.

Jacob at his birthday party. He has on his cowboy boots and a belt that Monny fashioned for him. And in his hand....a magic wand!

Adam likes to sit in the walker and is becoming interested in eating the toys.

(date on picture obviously wrong)

Adam loves his black and white sheep.

We went to Alabama to visit with Nana and Papa. While we were there we went to DeSoto Caverns. It was so beautiful and Jacob was excited to wear his miner's hat. I'll have to post a picture of that.

Jacob and the indian. He is wearing Aunt Shelby's old jacket....very old (she's 16). We were not equipped for the cold weather.

Jacob and Adam waiting to enter the cave. Adam is wearing a hat I found stuffed in the diaper bag that is a pinch too small!

Memories

All this blood talk has reminded me of a childhood memory. My brother told me that when I was bleeding I had to lick the blood to get it back into my body or I would die. I believed him.

Blood Update

Saturday morning we were all four lounging around in bed and Jacob noticed that Adam had band-aids on his legs (from his shots). He said, "He has band-aids on his legs." "He's all fixed now!" "I'm all fixed too.....the blood came out of my finger."

Blood

Jacob and Adam both had their well checks today. Jacob had to have his finger pricked and blood collected. He was such a big boy. He didn't even cry! The band-aid was the part that bothered him the most. He immediately wanted it off. After we got home he asked me to take the band-aid off. After I removed the band-aid, the conversation went like this:

J: that feels better now.
M: now that the band-aid is off?
J: no, now that all the blood is out of my finger.

*The other day Jacob was looking for the "door" that goes on the back of Mr. Potato Head. He was saying, "Where his booty at?" "You gotta help me find his booty!"
