For Aunt Jessie Lou
Looks like Jacob did a good job decorating his cake. We added the Little People before we brought it out to him.
Jacob at his birthday party. He has on his cowboy boots and a belt that Monny fashioned for him. And in his hand....a magic wand!
Adam likes to sit in the walker and is becoming interested in eating the toys.
(date on picture obviously wrong)
Adam loves his black and white sheep.
We went to Alabama to visit with Nana and Papa. While we were there we went to DeSoto Caverns. It was so beautiful and Jacob was excited to wear his miner's hat. I'll have to post a picture of that.
Jacob and the indian. He is wearing Aunt Shelby's old jacket....very old (she's 16). We were not equipped for the cold weather.
Jacob and Adam waiting to enter the cave. Adam is wearing a hat I found stuffed in the diaper bag that is a pinch too small!

Memories
All this blood talk has reminded me of a childhood memory. My brother told me that when I was bleeding I had to lick the blood to get it back into my body or I would die. I believed him.

Blood Update
Saturday morning we were all four lounging around in bed and Jacob noticed that Adam had band-aids on his legs (from his shots). He said, "He has band-aids on his legs." "He's all fixed now!" "I'm all fixed too.....the blood came out of my finger."

Blood
Jacob and Adam both had their well checks today. Jacob had to have his finger pricked and blood collected. He was such a big boy. He didn't even cry! The band-aid was the part that bothered him the most. He immediately wanted it off. After we got home he asked me to take the band-aid off. After I removed the band-aid, the conversation went like this:
J: that feels better now.
M: now that the band-aid is off?
J: no, now that all the blood is out of my finger.
*The other day Jacob was looking for the "door" that goes on the back of Mr. Potato Head. He was saying, "Where his booty at?" "You gotta help me find his booty!"

Happy Birthday, Baby!
My baby will be 3 tomorrow. I put him to bed a 2 year old but tomorrow he will be a 3 year old. I guess I knew that he would eventually be 3, but it was supposed to take a long long time. Wasn't it just yesterday that he was born? And maybe the day before that when we found out we were pregnant with our Jacob? What will I do when he turns 10, 16, 20?? I feel sick just thinking about it. Happy 3rd Birthday, Jacob!

Thursday Highlights
I had to go to medical today for my swollen eyelid. I had both kids with me, so when it came time to lay back on the table for the nurse practitioner to look in my eye, she had to find someone to hold Adam. So a Sailor comes in to hold him. The guy starts making small talk with Adam.
Sailor: Hey, what's your name?
Me: Adam
Sailor (obviously not thinking about what he is saying): Did you bring us some lunch? Huh? Did you bring us some lunch?
Me: Yes, but you can't have any.
Jacob has such an imagination. Tonight at dinner....
Jacob (speaking for his french fry): Oh no! It's Jacob
another fry: It's Jacob??
Jacob : Oh no!! He's going to eat me!!!
Then he eats the defenseless french fry.
In the bath........on his belly......
Jacob: I'm a boat. There are people on my back.
We went to Hobby Lobby today. I had Adam in the stroller and Jacob was walking. I did it this way b/c it's easier to push the stroller and I was only picking up one thing. But you know how that goes. I ended up with a handful of things in one hand and was using the other hand to push the stroller (assisted by the hip). Jacob was following me and carrying a coloring book. I got in line at the register and turned around to say something to Jacob but he wasn't there. I thought maybe he had come around in front of me just as I turned around so I turned in a circle, but still no Jacob. In that moment my life flashed before my eyes, and I could feel my heart drop into my nauseated stomach. Then, as calmly as I could, I called (screamed) out his name. A woman said to me, "Is he carrying a coloring book?" "Yes, yes, yes." I replied. Then she said, "There he is." I guess he was looking at his book instead of watching me. When I turned to get in line, he just kept on walking. I think I should have him micro-chipped :)

Silly Mama
We've just arrived home from getting Jacob's hair cut. He has collapsed in the recliner with blue sucker in hand and a blue mouth to boot. I stick my head out the door to grab the mail. When I look back in the living room I notice that Jacob is no longer holding his sucker.
Me: Jacob, did you throw your sucker away?
Jacob: No.
M: Where is your sucker?
J: Oh, there it is!! (on the floor)
I start going through the mail and discover that we have a red movie (a movie from Netflix). I open it up and am excited to see "The Jungle Book". Jacob LOVES reading 'The Jungle Book', but has never seen the movie.
M: Jacob, look what we have.....The Jungle Book.
J: Jungle Book?
M: Yes, The Jungle Book...would you like to watch it?
J: Yeah!
I put the movie in and as I'm navigating my way to the start menu Jacob informs me of my folly.
J: Not Jungle Book, Mama, not Jungle Book!!!...............Jungle MOVIE.
Of course, how could I be so silly. It isn't a book, it's a movie!!!

Where did we come from?
I often write about the silly things in my life...because they're funny. But today, Jacob reminded me of a simple truth that can be easily forgotten in the chaos of day to day life. Jacob has asked us several times now, "Where did Adam come from?" To which we reply, "Heaven." This morning while we were getting ready for church this was our conversation:
J: Where did Adam come from?
M: Heaven.
J: Where did I come from?
M: Heaven.
J: Where did Daddy come from?
M: Heaven.
J: Where did you come from?
M: Heaven.
J: Where did Manny and Pa come from?
M: Heaven.
J: Where did Nana and Papa come from?
M: Heaven. We all came from Heaven, Jacob. We are here for a short time but we are trying to get back home and live with our Heavenly Father.
J: Oh.
I'm grateful to be Jacob's mother and have him to remind me of what's really important.

This is becoming a problem
We went to Whole Foods last night to get some herbs.....to increase my milk supply......again. We got to the register paid for our herbs and walked out. Oh Yeah....we probably should have picked up the herbs when we left, huh? In our defense, we were speaking with the girl who was bagging, because she had just moved here from Denton, TX and had attended UNT. Small world. So Lee and I came to the conclusion that we don't need to buy groceries anymore. We can just get rid of the fridge and walk down to the commissary every time we need something. At least we'd lose weight :)

What is going on here???!!!
Once again, I am not drinking milk. Apparently it makes my baby's colon bleed. I am a top-notch mother, huh? :( So my mother-in-law, knowing my love for milk, suggested I try soy milk. This was yesterday....Friday. We were going to the commissary for groceries so I picked up some soy milk. We came home and life went on as usual. Now you're thinking....what is the point of this boring story?
Saturday morning. I go to the fridge to get said soy milk to try on cereal. Where is the soy milk? Did we leave it at the store?? Wait a second...where are the other items we purchased?? OH that's right....you're supposed to take the groceries out of the van when you get home!!!!! What happened!? I think that we are truly losing our minds.
Luckily it was cold outside so all of our groceries survived the night :)
Has this ever happened to you?
